How Do The Hahn Twin Forceps Work?
The Hahn Twin Forceps has several uses, but most frequently is used the following way:

Single folded gauze in one side and articulating paper in the other side. The gauze side is inserted between the teeth and the patient is asked to bite on it. Upon opening the mouth the instrument is simply flipped and the articulating paper is inserted. This results in a signficantly better mark on the occlusion. No air drying or instrument swapping needed!

A red piece of articulating paper is inserted in one side and a black or blue piece is inserted into the other side. The red side is the inserted between the teeth and the patient is asked to grind on the paper. Certain movements can be requested limiting the number of marks. Then upon opening the instrument is simply flipped and the blue/black paper is inserted and the patient is asked to tap or bite on the paper. This allows the envisioning of excursive movements as related to MIP/CO or even CR. This process also works for marking a CR-CO slide.

Both sides are loaded with articulating paper. Now when one side gets worn out you simply flip the instrument and a new piece of articulating paper is ready! This makes adjusting/checking the bite much more efficient!
